St Gaudens are a great investment. But buyer beware – Goldline and infomercials way over price. I found the best pricing for these coins from RegalAssets.
The amazing thing is that these common-date Saint Twenties in TPG BU are now $1300 – $1400 each now. It makes this HSN sale from 2007 an actual bargain.
maybe because it’s worth more than depreciating us dollars… just a guess.
i’m sure we’d all love to go back to Reagan days over Obama, Clinton and Bush days… but maybe i’m just crazy.
how about keeping your list to just four.
Hottest First Spouse Coins
1 Jackie Kennedy 1961-1963 (Hot!)
2 Julia Tyler 1844-1845
3 Sarah Polk 1845-1849
4 Letitia Tyler 1841-1842
5 Michelle Obama 2009 -
6 Hillary Clinton 1993-2001
Also, his statement about the ’33 Saint, all but one of them were melted… Wrong. They’ve found around 20 throughout time, and most of them ended up in Fort Knox.y U.S. Mint Cashier, George McCann was suspected of swapping out 1933 coins to be melted for prior dates so the books matched… Its a great story to look into.. Don’t believe HSN..
if you buy any coins from HSN then you are a moron and no nothing about coin collecting because these coins are way overpriced and the grading service ICG is shadey to say the least
quite inconsistent – that is all i can say
the legislation has changed since the Executive Order of the president so that you don’t have any fear of confiscation of your coins. Even the 1933 Saints have been sent in to be graded and this has happened within the last 18 months i believe and the owners get to keep them. For the record the CIA may have had a small part but it was the Secret Service that sought those coins out for confiscation. Hope it helps
private ownership of gold ended in the mid 30′s, and started again 1986, maybe the only good thing Ronald Raegan ever did.
icg is not very good!
Illegal???? Why?
Why on earh would the CIA want your gold coin? LOL, but seriously…? Why?
hey lets say you have a coin like this which was given to you along generations, what would you do so that the cia doesn’t confiscate it? and so you can sell it?
Can the Home Shopping Network offer a Bullion Buffalo gold coin in a rope chain pendant on flex pay someday soon???
i remember when it was illegal to own gold coins.
you can have my mom and you can give me that gold coin is that an fair trade?
haha give one of those 20 dollar gold coin to a drug adict and he she is going to buy 20 dollars of heroin……… dont think in time travel just go to the blackmarket hahaha
people you need to understand something….in 1908 one ounce of gold was worth 20 dollars
so you have the value of gold which now is worth around 700-900 dollars and ounce
and the numismatic value…. the image is 100 years old
and the condition of the coin
Yes, but $20 was worth a lot more back when this was made.
It’s a nice coin. It’s not _pure_ gold, though. The coins that were made for general circulation were 90% gold with 10% copper added for durability.
gees, how old are you??
i remember seeing them in general circulation.
